New Package Testers Handle Flexible, Rigid, and Porous Materials

Feature-rich package testing systems are designed to perform various leak and seal-strength tests on flexible, rigid, and porous materials. Available to medical device manufacturers and QA laboratories from Mocon Inc. (Minneapolis, MN, USA; www.mocon.com), the energy-efficient Lippke 4000 series of testers are positive-pressure systems for measuring the strength of a medical device package’s seals and material while simultaneously assessing the ability of the package to protect its contents against atmospheric contamination. They conduct tests at three different pressure levels.

The Model 4000 is a stand-alone unit, and the Model 4500 is a benchtop system operated via personal computer. Flow booster technology, a standard system feature, ensures that the volume of gas necessary to perform a test is available when needed. Also standard are electronic pressure and flow controls for high precision and accuracy in leak and burst testing. Custom package fixtures, capability to perform eight test modes, and an advanced leak testing option that provides absolute hole-size measurement are additionally available.
