Gardner Denver Thomas GmbH (Puchheim, Germany; www.rtpumps.com) recently introduced small, lightweight compressors suited for medical applications that feature quiet operation. Sound levels top out at 50 dBA at 20 psig on these units that measure 8.3 × 4.0 × 6.4 in. and weigh 9 lb. A patented monolithic head reduces leak paths, and optional intake locations on the side and bottom of the compressors facilitate hookups. A boltless construction design reduces vibration and noise, and the centre-line-of-gravity mounting options ease installation.
