MEDTEC PREVIEW
![]() |
Stuttgart built it, and boy, did they come! The city’s brand-new Trade Fair Centre is practically sold out for 2008, its first full year of operation. And the venue has been a visitor magnet: existing events that moved to the centre since it opened in June 2007 have reported drawing approximately 30% more visitors than the year before. That, in conjunction with MEDTEC’s consistent year-on-year growth in attendance, should produce banner results for the 2008 exposition and conference.
The centre features 100,000 sq m of hall space and an International Congress Centre that is designed to comfortably welcome 9300 people. A 40,000-sq-m outdoor piazza includes a park, which organizers have dubbed the facility’s “green lung.”
The centre is adjacent to the Stuttgart airport and the A8 autobahn, making it easy to get in and out. If you’re staying in town, the S-Bahn provides a direct connection to the messe.
Is it any wonder, asks Ulrich Kromer, chairman of the board of the centre’s management committee, that the trade show industry in Germany has become quite jittery? We won’t get involved in that debate, except to say that we hope you decide to judge for yourself by attending MEDTEC.
