Sandvik Materials Technology (Sandvik, Sweden) has acquired JKB Medical Technologies (Milford, CT, USA), a manufacturer of spinal implants and medical instruments. The US firm’s products are manufactured from titanium alloy and high-alloy stainless materials. With implants representing approximately 80% of JKB Medical Technologies’ sales, the acquisition is expected to strengthen Sandvik’s position in the medical segment. Its customers comprise medical technology companies that sell directly to hospitals and medical clinics. Operations are conducted from the main plant in Milford, CT, USA and the recently established plant in Memphis, TN, USA. “The acquisition is another step in our effort to become a strategic partner and complete supplier to medical technology companies,” says Peter Gossas, president of Sandvik Materials Technology.
