Medical device manufacturers are encouraged to flaunt their Systems Applications Products (SAP) software prowess through an awards programme developed by West Trax (Ledbury, Hertfordshire, UK), a provider of management and IT consulting services. The so-called Quality Award scheme is designed to recognize best practices in harnessing the efficiencies of SAP systems. Depending on how well they rank against a set of criteria, the companies will receive a bronze, silver, or gold rating.
SAP’s Business Process Platform (BPP) and enterprise services enable medical device manufacturers to rapidly design, deploy, and scale innovative businesses, according to West Trax. SAP software with built-in best practices provides users in the device industry with a competitive edge in operation efficiencies and speed to market, adds the firm. The quality award has been launched to recognize those companies that are most successful at leveraging these possibilities.
Certification for the award is based on qualification criteria in the following seven defined disciplines: degree of standardization, unused relevant standard potential, percent of custom developments, percent of unused custom developments, custom development response times, custom development usage frequencies, and documentation of used programs.
West Trax has commissioned Jörg Schultze-Bohl, a publicly appointed certified expert from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Darmstadt, Germany, to audit and document the programme.
