Specialty Blades to Acquire Popper and Sons

Specialty Blades Inc. (Staunton, VA, USA) has announced its intent to purchase needle and tubing manufacturer Popper and Sons Inc. (New Hyde Park, NY, USA). The acquisition would give the firm an estimated US$35 million in sales revenue and broaden its cutting and piercing development and production capability. The acquisition is expected to close on or before 31 December.

Früh Verpackungstechnik Establishes New Headquarters

Swiss packaging firm Früh Verpackungstechnik AG has moved its headquarters from Schwerzenbach to Fehraltorf to accommodate rapid sales growth. Specializing in flexible packaging and contract packaging for medical applications, the company has moved three times since it was founded in 1980. Its new headquarters will give the firm a total surface area of 14,600 m2. Housing all of its equipment in self-contained buildings, the company’s facilities are designed to withstand natural disasters and assure continuous workflow.

US Wire and Tubing Manufacturer Acquires Medical Instrument Firm

New England Precision Grinding Inc. (NEPG; Holliston, MA, USA), a developer and manufacturer of wire and tubing products for medical applications, has announced the acquisition of American Medical Instruments Inc. (Dartmouth, MA, USA). The newly acquired company is a manufacturer of custom Huber, epidural, and spinal needles; needle assemblies; and orthopaedic wires. That firm will be a wholly owned subsidiary of NEPG and will continue to employ approximately 95 people at its 57,000-sq ft facility in Dartmouth.

Ampac Packaging Acquires International Pouch Converter

Ampac Packaging LLC (Cincinnati, OH, USA) has acquired privately held Floeter Flexible Packaging Group (Eberdingen, Germany) for an undisclosed amount. Floeter specializes in stand-up pouch converting and is known for its retort pouch–making capability. The acquisition will give Ampac manufacturing locations in Eberdingen, Germany; Leipzig, Germany; New Delhi, India; and Chicago, IL, USA.

ClearStream Technologies Group Signs Chinese Distribution Deal

ClearStream Technologies Group plc (Wexford, Ireland), a specialist manufacturer of medical devices used in interventional medicine, has announced that it has signed a distribution deal with Shanghai Micro Medical Devices Ltd. (Shanghai). Under the agreement, Shanghai Micro Medical Devices is expected to begin distributing the firm’s peripheral vascular products early next year. The Irish firm’s ReeKross catheter is suitable for treating critical limb ischemia, which is a condition afflicting approximately 10% of China’s 41 million medically insured retirees.
