Smith & Nephew Joins Nanotechnologies Task Force

Smith & Nephew, a global medical technology business is planning on taking part in an international initiative to develop a code of conduct for businesses working with nanotechnologies. Scientists from the Smith & Nephew Research Centre in York, UK, will be part of a multidisciplined working group launched by the Nanotechnology Industries Association, the Royal Society, Insight Investment, and the Nanotechnology Knowledge Transfer Network. The aim of the voluntary codes will be to establish good practice for businesses involved in all aspects of emerging nanotechnologies, including research, development, manufacturing, and distribution.

InteliCoat Announces Sale of its Electronic and Engineered Films Division

InteliCoat Technologies (Wrexham, Wales, UK), a global manufacturer of coated paper, film, and speciality substrates for imaging, medical, optical, and electronic technologies, has announced that it has sold its electronic and engineered films business unit to Exopack Holding (Spartanburg, SC, USA). The US firm is a flexible packaging converter and provider of paper and plastic packaging for a variety of industries. The former InteliCoat division will be renamed Exopack Advanced Coatings and will operate from Matthews, NC, USA, and North Wales in the United Kingdom.
