Arrow Medical Ltd. (Kington, Herefordshire, UK) has invested more than £200,000 in upgrades in anticipation of a growing demand for the moulded parts used in sterile devices and patient kits.
The firm has added a 35-t Arburg moulding machine to its battery of equipment to mould a variety of silicone components. The company uses a liquid silicone resin (LSR) system with the moulder to produce parts that combine hard and soft materials. The Arburg unit and LSR processing also will allow the firm to provide complete biocompatible encapsulation of medical devices.
Arrow Medical plans to add complete cleanroom polymer parts processing services in the near future. The company currently has a Class 10,000 cleanroom for on-site device assembly.
