Cologne Hosts Plastics Conference

A moulding and extrusion conference will address the use of recently developed plastic and elastomser materials and processing technology. Scheduled for 24–26 April at the Maritim Hotel in Cologne, Germany, the conference will examine plastics with properties such as extended durability, transparency, and autoclavability, which make them suitable for medical applications. The English-language conference will bring together material experts, material suppliers, medical moulders and extruders, and device designers and manufacturers.

Conference Explores Biocompatible Electronics

An international conference scheduled for 9–10 May in Ulm, Germany, will offer attendees the opportunity to discuss developments in biocompatible electronics. The conference will address topics such as materials, packaging, surface modification, power management, and the quality testing of medical implants. The German-language event will feature contributions from a number of industry representatives and research agencies.

Machine Tool Show Stresses Medical and Dental Microtechnology Applications

A trade show dedicated to the medical and dental applications of microtechnology will be held 25–28 April in Moutier, Switzerland. The mediSIAMS exhibition will showcase machine tools, automation equipment, and products used for surface treatment, as well as suppliers of machining and assembly contract services. Crédit Suisse, a MediSIAMS sponsor, will host a conference on medical technology titled “Success and Risk Factors: The Future of the Business” on the fringes of the event. Moreover, the event organizer has scheduled a concurrent trade fair devoted to med-tech applications of computer technology to be held in the nearby city of Delémont.

Sensors Event Returns to Nuremberg

A conference devoted to sensors will be held parallel to the Sensor+Test 2007 trade fair in Nuremberg, Germany, from 22 to 24 May. The event will examine traditional measuring technology topics and related industrial development projects. Specific topics to be discussed include flow technology; magnetic, gas, and chemical sensors; sensor interfaces and signal transmission; packaging technology; and measurement uncertainty.
