Packaging Firm Expands Medical Focus

Oracle Packaging (Wilmington, NC, USA) has acquired Tolas Healthcare Packaging (Feasterville, PA, USA) to further its reach in the pharmaceutical and medical packaging markets. Tolas’s products that will now be part of the Oracle portfolio include puncture-resistant, heat-sealable, and sterilizable pouches, tubing, bags, and high-barrier foil lidding. The acquisition will give Oracle a 50,000-sq-ft converting operation in Philadelphia, PA, USA, and 20,000-sq-ft coating facilities in Cincinnati, OH, USA.

Millipore Opens R&D Centre

A provider of laboratory and biopharmaceutical manufacturing products, Millipore has announced the opening of a new US$50 million research and development centre in Bedford, MA, USA. The centre will enable the company to extend its applications to meet the growing demands of the global biopharmaceutical market and the life sciences industry. The centre’s bioprocess division is dedicated to helping pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies optimize manufacturing productivity, ensure the quality of drugs, and scale up the production of difficult-to-manufacture biologics. With the opening of the new centre, Millipore is able to develop full-scale applications performance data and processes that simulate commercial conditions. The 110,000-sq-ft building contains 47,000 sq ft of lab space and consolidates multiple functions, fostering a collaborative approach among the staff.

Machining Specialist Launches Laboratory

Machining specialist Mori Seiki has launched a machining technology laboratory. The new business entity is dedicated to enhancing manufacturers’ overall machining processes. Creganna Acquires Microcomponents Moulding Firm
