British specialist Contax Ltd. and Switzerland-based firm Ismeca will work together to design and maintain automation systems in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Supplier of medical device assembly systems Ismeca (La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland) has joined forces with production automation specialist Contax Ltd. (Segensworth West, Hants, UK) to provide a full range of automation services to the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Aimed at medical device OEMs and other companies requiring specialized equipment, the agreement builds on Ismeca’s expertise in automating device assembly and Contax’s support systems.
Part of the Komax Group, Ismeca has a well-documented reputation for designing assembly systems that comply with US FDA requirements and accommodate cleanroom use. The firm has designed machines to assemble safety syringes, insulin delivery systems, inhalers, valves and regulators, and test and diagnostic kits.
For its part, Contax brings a breadth of experience in production automation to the partnership. “By providing a strong service backup,” says Phil Shorten, Contax integrated automation group director, “we can add value to Ismeca’s solutions. That is invaluable in demanding and complex production environments such as medical device assembly.”
