Nonmagnetic inductors block certain frequencies that could impair the performance of MRI and x-ray systems.
|
A new series of inductors lack a magnetic personality, and that’s a good thing. Introduced in September, the new MG inductor series from Gowanda Electronics (Gowanda, NY, USA) is described as the first truly nonmagnetic product of its kind. Makers of medical diagnostic equipment and other systems that require the use of nonmagnetic components are the firm’s target customers.
The inductors are specifically designed for applications that are sensitive to magnetic properties. Magnetic resonance imaging and some x-ray systems, as well as some testing devices, fall into this category. The components, in their role as filters, block certain frequencies that could compromise equipment performance.
The MG-series products are available in through-hole leaded and surface-mount versions, in inductance values from 0.01 to 4.7 µH, and in current ratings from 260 to 3835 µA dc. Numerous self-resonant frequencies are available, and an RoHS-compliant version can be supplied.
The firm was recently certified to ISO 13485:2003.
