Laser Machining Company Boosts Contract Manufacturing Capacity
A provider of laser micromachining systems and services has commissioned a new facility to support high-volume production. In addition, Oxford Laser’s (Didcot, Oxon, UK) existing micromachining facilities have been upgraded. The firm now offers infrared, visible, and UV lasers with multiaxis part manipulation; it is also equipped with trepanning heads, optical and electron microscopes, and vision systems. CAD/CAM file conversion is available. Hole drilling in dimensions down to 1 µm diam can be performed in stainless steel, hardened steel, refractory materials, ceramics, diamond, polyamide, and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene. Microcutting and milling are also available. Typical micromachining applications include biomedical parts such as gene analysis spotting pins.

US Sensors Manufacturer Expands European Presence Via Purchase of Danish Firm
Sensors manufacturer LumaSense Technologies Inc. (Santa Clara, CA, USA) has announced that it has acquired Innova Air Tech Systems, a company specializing in the measurement of trace gases. Based in Ballerup, Denmark, Innova manufactures products for the detection, monitoring, and analysis of a variety of gases.
Applications include medical breath analysis and anaesthesia monitoring. The trace-gas sensing technology is based on infrared photoacoustic and magnetoacoustic spectroscopy methods. The company’s products can operate in a variety of environments and can measure gases in trace amounts with a detection-limit measuring in the parts-per-billion range.
