MEDTEC 2006

If you are a football fan who happens to work in the medical technology industry, Stuttgart is a great place to be this spring and summer. World Cup fever will engulf the city in June and early July, when six matches will be played in the venerable Gottlieb-Daimler stadium. Prior to that, Stuttgart hosts another world-class event: MEDTEC 2006. The show returns to the fairgrounds on 7–9 March.
Granted, the Medical Equipment Design & Technology Exhibition & Conference is on a smaller scale than the World Cup, and it won’t attract the tens of thousands of spectators that will descend upon the city come June, but it does represent an opportunity for med-tech OEMs to network with suppliers of products and services who are at the top of their game.
More than 450 exhibitors will be participating in MEDTEC this year. Approximately 6000 visitors are expected, including manufacturing and production managers, design engineers, R&D directors, product and project managers, and corporate executives.
The increasing importance of automation and precision machining in the medical technology industry has prompted show organizers to include a pair of specialist pavilions. PrecisionTec serves high-technology industries and features leading CNC machining equipment manufacturers, EDM equipment suppliers, and laser cutting and welding technology, as well as contract manufacturers with expertise in fabricating, turning, milling, cutting, grinding, extruding, rolling, and moulding precision metal parts for medical and other industries. The Assembly and Automation Pavilion features manufacturers of custom automation, robotics, control software, sensors, and motion control technology.
The accompanying conference sessions will focus on topics such as applying new trends in medical technologies, process validation, regulatory issues, and marketing a medical device in the United States.
MEDTEC is produced and managed by Canon Communications llc and is sponsored by European Medical Device Manufacturer magazine. For up-to-the-minute information on the event, visit www.medtecshow.com.
