Online Course Covers CGMP Compliance
An online course is designed to teach entry-level employees the basics of CGMP requirements for medical device facilities. Examining the historical basis of GMPs, the evolution of industry legislation, and details of US FDA regulations, the lessons from Research and Markets (Dublin, Ireland) provide complete compliance training. Attention is given to dress codes, good health and hygiene habits, and contamination prevention in controlled environments. Also covered are the implications of CGMP noncompliance. The software complies with US FDA regulation 21 CFR Part 11. For more information, visit www.researchandmarkets.com/reports/c30043/.
Power Supplies Site Offers Enhanced Search Capability
A manufacturer of high-voltage power supplies has added two parametric searches to its Web site. According to Ultravolt (Ronkonkoma, NY, USA), users can choose from a basic or an advanced search to find modular and rack-mounted high-voltage power supplies and test fixtures. The basic search, located at www.ultravolt.com/param_basic.htm, allows users to source power supplies based on device type, input and output voltage, nominal output current, and power requirements. The advanced search accessed at www.ultravolt.com/param_adv.htm adds to the parameters of the basic search with drop-down menus for output type, derated input, standard volume, footprint, and package type. Additionally, this search features a table of 18 options.
Magneto-Elastic Sensors Web Site Upgraded
A Web site for magneto-elastic sensors provides expanded information on a company’s patented noncontact torque-sensing technology. The site from Magna-Lastic Devices Inc. (Algesheim, Germany) offers in-depth technical information, an animated demonstration, technical papers, news, and information on standard and custom products. An extensive list of industries served, applications, and case studies is also included. Medical applications can be accessed by selecting “measuring instruments” from the drop-down menu. The site’s design allows customers to provide details of specific requirements and to purchase sensors via a secure server. The Web site can be accessed at www.mdi-sensor.com.
Online Tool Calculates Cost of Injection-Moulded Parts
An online tool assists injection moulders in assessing the total cost of producing an injection-moulded part. Although most moulders have their own quoting tool, the calculator developed by IDES (Laramie, WY, USA) can allow companies to verify the accuracy of price quotes. Taking profit margin and mark-up into consideration, the tool can determine the total amount of material required for a job, given the scrap, reject, and regrind requirements. A report can be generated that displays the total material price, overall machine costs, projected profit, and suggested price to quote. The calculator accepts imperial and metric units and can estimate quotes in any currency. The free injection- moulded part cost calculator is now available at www.ides/costmate.
