UK Toolmaker Increases Services for Med-Tech OEMs

Tooling maker Aire Erosion will have on-site cleanrooms and a larger assembly area when it moves into its new facility.

A recently formed tool-building company based in Leeds, UK, is expanding operations to serve the medical technology industry. Aire Erosion Ltd. has invested in eight EDM units, and it anticipates purchasing a twin-chuck milling and turning machine in the near future. The firm also plans to move into a larger facility with cleanrooms and an expanded assembly area.

Founded in 2000, Aire Erosion realized early on that the medical sector could be a key customer and concentrated its resources to cater to that market. The firm makes instruments for use in hip, knee, and spinal procedures and minimally invasive surgery.
