Fluoropolymer Tubing Supplier Expands to Meet Surging Demand |

To keep pace with global demand for its fluoropolymer extrusions, a company has announced a multimillion-dollar expansion of its production facilities. Zeus Inc. (Orangeburg, SC, USA) will invest in new extrusion and heat-shrink production lines. The upgrade will significantly increase capacity at the 83,000-sq-ft plant, which came on-line in 1999.
The firm supplies fluoropolymer tubing for demanding applications in the medical device and other industries. The recent economic turnaround, says Zeus president and COO John Worley, has increased demand for the company’s products in nearly all the markets it serves. “At the same time, companies have become selective in their choice of suppliers, because they cannot afford any interruptions in their supply chains,” notes Worley. “This expansion of capacity includes duplicating key production capabilities.”
Zeus currently operates eight production facilities, most of which have redundant capabilities. Integrated quality control programmes incorporate the process capability index, six sigma, and statistical analysis.
