MD&M East Held in New York City
Canon Communications llc, which publishes EMDM, is again featuring a lineup of colocated design, manufacturing, plastics processing, and packaging shows on 13–15 June at New York City’s Javits Convention Center. The event comprises Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) East, EastPack, PLASTEC East, and Atlantic Design & Manufacturing. Making its debut, the Automation Technology Expo will highlight lean manufacturing and six-sigma process control for automation.
A conference programme will cover topics such as packaging validation, software design, failure prevention for joined plastic medical devices, and regulatory updates.

Conference on Micro and Nano Systems
The 10th international Conference on the Commercialization of Micro and Nano Systems will take place 21–25 August in Baden-Baden, Germany. Keynote talks by industry leaders and educational workshops complement an exhibition featuring micro- and nanotechnology companies.
The conference will cover the management and manufacture of small technologies, building regional micro- and nanotechnology clusters, and the roles played by venture capitalists, among other subjects.

Switzerland Hosts NanoEurope
Nanotechnology takes centre stage on 13–15 September at Olma Messen in St. Gallen, Switzerland. NanoEurope will present product innovations in commercial nanotechnology and microtechnology applications. Speakers at the conference will discuss recent developments in basic research, training projects, ethical and environmental considerations, and venture capital issues. Talks will also focus on concrete advancements in nanotechnological applications in tools and sensors, materials and surfaces, and optics and electronics.

MEDTEC Returns to Ireland
MEDTEC Ireland returns to Galway on 28–29 September. Leading suppliers to the medical device manufacturing industry will be a part of the tabletop exposition. Exhibits will showcase a range of industry sectors, including orthopaedics, in vitro diagnostics, and cardiological and radiological products. The conference will address issues relevant to medical device manufacturing.

Handling and Assembly Highlighted at Motek
Motek will display exhibits on handling, robotics, and assembly technology. To be held 27–30 September in Sinsheim, Germany, the fair has expanded its floor space by 48,000 sq ft from last year’s exhibition. Domestic and international suppliers will be on hand to discuss technology for applications ranging from assembly workstations to industrial robots to dismantling services.

Friedrichshafen Hosts Plastics Fair
The Friedrichshafen Exhibition Centre will welcome Fakuma, a plastics fair, on 18–22 October. Exhibitors will display injection moulding equipment, raw materials, polymer processing products, tools and moulds, and automation and quality assurance software. The primary areas of focus include tooling, multicomponent technology, internal gas and water pressure techniques, and physical foaming. Combined processes, such as in-line compounding, and the injection moulding of polyurethane, will also be highlighted.
