On-Line Resource for 3-D Design Launched
An on-line initiative is designed to demonstrate how 3-D mechanical design software from SolidWorks Corp. (Cambridge, UK) can benefit med-tech OEMs. Visitors can take a virtual tour of the software, download case studies, and sign up for a free demonstration. They can also register to receive information, such as a guide to transitioning from 2-D to 3-D design and a medical device technology newsletter.
The Web resource represents the company’s first foray into the medical device technology market. “Design and end-user appeal are becoming increasingly important in the medical device technology market, and this is where SolidWorks 3-D CAD software really comes into its own,” says Anne Busson, marketing manager. “Our new on-line initiative demonstrates the advantages that medical equipment manufacturers can derive from basing their design strategy around SolidWorks.” Log on to www.solidworks.co.uk/medic to try out the new resource.
Web-Based Research Centre Established
A new on-line resource allows researchers to search scientific, technical, and medical information and to identify relationships across traditionally disparate sources of content. The Life Science Research Center (LSRC) was established by Infotrieve Inc. (Los Angeles, CA, USA), an article retrieval service.
The centre will offer full-text searching of preprocessed content such as literature, patents, drug pipeline data, genes, technical protocols, laboratory products, and industry news. The LSRC also features secure metasearching of external and internal corporate data sources, as well as personalization for individuals and collaborative workgroups. For more information, log on to www.infotrieve.com.
