Full-Service Contract Manufacturing
Interplex Industries (Flushing, NY, USA), a provider of moulded components, recently began offering full-service medical device contract manufacturing. Among the company’s services are product design and development and prototyping, which are performed at the Interplex medical facility in Milford, OH, USA. The facility includes a Class 100,000 cleanroom. Component manufacturing can be completed at any of Interplex’s manufacturing locations in France, Germany, Scotland, Mexico, China, Singapore, India, and the United States.

Partnership Set to Facilitate Resource Sharing
A strategic partnership between Creganna Medical Devices (Galway, Ireland) and TDC Medical (Westborough, MA, USA) has been formed. Creganna offers design, development, and scalable manufacturing services, and specializes in minimally invasive devices. Company representatives project that TDC will provide design support and regulatory assistance for FDA submissions. The companies will be colocated at TDC’s Boston facility, giving Creganna a base in the United States. In turn, Creganna expects to provide TDC with access to its platform delivery devices, assistance with scalable manufacturing solutions, and other support.

Manufacturer Installs
Tube-Bending Machine
Microgroup Inc. (Medway, MA, USA) has expanded its capabilities with the acquisition of a three-axis, dual-radius tube-bending machine. Capable of single, multiple, or multiplane bends, the automated machine can process stainless steel and other metals in lengths of up to 6 ft. The machine can accommodate tubing from 0.015 to 0.5 in. OD and bar and wire from 0.015 to 0.250 in. OD. Wall thickness allowance ranges from 0.003 to 0.032 in.
The company anticipates the machine being used for both device components and parts for machinery affiliated with devices. Bob Lamson, vice president of business development, notes that “Using a machine like this is one way to ensure consistency and efficiency for high-volume parts, or for lower- volume parts requiring a number of bends.”

Maker of Dynamic Measurement Instruments Establishes Support Centre
Looking to increase its global impact, a designer and manufacturer of dynamic instruments for vibration, shock, and pressure measurement recently opened a business centre in Germany. Endevco (San Juan Capistrano, CA, USA) plans to make the German office a central hub for its network of existing offices in the UK, France, and Spain. The centre will be the base for activities ranging from sales, marketing, and distribution to application engineering and technical support.
Rob Meyer, president, predicts that customers “will benefit from faster response times, more technical interaction, and a deeper understanding of the various solutions available to them.” Products are available directly from the company or through its network of authorized distributors in Europe.
