On-line Plastic Material Database Launched

E-Plasturgy S.A. (Oyonnax, France) has launched a plastic materials database on the Internet. The company has recently become the exclusive distributor for IDES (Laramie, WY, USA), a supplier of plastic material data sheets. The database contains more than 55,000 data sheets about plastic materials produced by 470 suppliers. The data sheets are also available in a pocket guide format published in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. The database and pocket guides can be accessed at www.ides.com/eplasturgy.

Contract Manufacturer Establishes Web Site

A recently launched Web site details a company’s contract manufacturing capabilities. A two-year period of significant growth for the company, including the acquisition of additional land and buildings, provided the stimulus for the new site. ATEK Medical Manufacturing (Grand Rapids, MI, USA) provides manufacturing, supply-chain, and new-product support services for subassemblies and finished products. CEO Christy Bieber Orris comments, “While the Web site can’t replace meeting our team with a face-to-face visit, this site will allow visitors to see what ATEK is all about.” Log on to www.atekmedical.com for more information.

Lower Resin Prices or Firm Waives Fee

Resin Technology Inc. (Fort Worth, TX, USA) offers a Web-based service, called RTintelligence, that may help companies reduce their resin costs. Complementing the firm’s consultation service, RTintelligence provides news, data, charts, and trend analysis for the resin industry. However, the company does not make, sell, or broker resin. According to RTi’s president, Garland Strong, this fact-gathering and reporting tool ensures that “clients don’t have to wait for a status report. They get it when they want.”

RTintelligence is used to establish specific goals and the direction of a supervised program. Each client receives an RTintelligence section, containing proprietary information in a secure setting, which allows predetermined savings goals to be tracked. A client’s resin purchasing pattern in comparison with the market, supply and demand factors, overall inventory levels, and real-time pricing benchmarks are among other available features. Also, for each commodity purchased, there is a chart showing savings balance and average price. “By setting the goals with a client, we’ve established a benchmark that provides quantification of the customer’s programme,” states Strong. “We enable the customer to actually see the progress.”

RTi reviews its site several times daily and does not charge a fee unless its client saves money on resin purchases. Visit www.resinpros.com to find out more.
