On-Line Viewer Facilitates Sharing of Mathematical Models

A Web-based tool allows users to visualize, examine, and postprocess results from models generated by a mathematical modeling package. FemLab provides researchers, scientists, and engineers with an opportunity to examine model settings such as underlying partial differential equations and boundary conditions. Colleagues who do not have the full FemLab package can still examine the underlying problem setup of models, including preprocessing and solver settings, and review solution results.

The software also offers flexible postprocessing capabilities, such as playback of simulations, visualization of results, and the creation of animations. Available at www.uk.comsol.com, the Multiphysics Viewer runs on Windows, Linux, and Macintosh OSX platforms free of charge.
FEA Site Upgraded

An engineering software developer has updated its Web site to offer general guidelines for selecting finite element analysis (FEA) software in a user-friendly format. The Web site contains animations and interactive tutorials to help users match their engineering needs with specific FEA-related products. Advice on selecting products developed by Noran Engineering (Westminster, CA, USA) and a 90-second demonstration of the technology are also accessible. Updated sections are designed to be specific to user needs, and include information for users unfamiliar with FEA, experienced with FEA, and from universities. Viral Barrier Protection Site Launched

Ahlstrom Corp.
(Helsinki, Finland) recently launched a Web site dedicated to fabrics that protect medical personnel from infection and other developments in infection control. The site provides information on international standards for medical protective apparel and drapes, and contains links to relevant articles from industry trade publications and medical journals. In addition, Donald Fry, a noted authority on infection control, will respond to questions posted by site visitors. For more information about viral barrier protection, log on to www.viralbarrier.com.

Temperature Sensor Library Introduced

Technical information related to temperature sensor construction and applications is available in a technical document library. The Web site is hosted by DWM & Associates Inc. (North Brunswick, NJ, USA), the US and Canadian distributor for Heraeus Sensor Technology. The application section includes documents covering biosensor and gas flow applications. It is available at www.dwmai.com.
