Avenue Mould Achieves Certification Milestone

Avenue Mould Ltd. (Sligo, Ireland) has achieved certification to the EN/ISO 13485:2003 quality management system standard for manufacturers of medical devices. Receiving the quality accreditation involved considerable preparatory work, says the firm, including upgrading existing systems, implementing new systems as required, and updating the quality manual.

The company specializes in single-source solutions for medical device and pharmaceutical OEMs.

Silicone Formulator Acquires Simethicone Line of Products

NuSil Technology
(Sophia Antipolis, France), a United States–based formulator of silicone compounds for the medical industry, has acquired simethicone assets from the General Electric (G.E.) Advanced Materials, Silicones, division. The company will begin manufacturing three key products used in ingestible applications: simethicone USP, simethicone GS, and simethicone emulsion USP. With this agreement come exclusive rights to the simethicone GS, a proprietary product of G.E. A component in pharmaceutical formulations for more than 30 years, simethicone products have expanded into endoscopic applications and dermatological formulations.

Catheter Manufacturer Completes Interim Funding

ClearStream Technologies Ltd. (Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford, UK), a designer and manufacturer of angioplasty products, has completed a €2 million interim fund-raising effort targeting new and existing shareholders. The company also intends to float stock on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange later this year.

The money raised will be used to finance a major research and development programme currently under way. The company is developing a full product pipeline in three market sectors: catheters designed to aid drug delivery, new peripheral catheters, and its own drug-eluting stent product.

Alquest Expands European Presence

Alquest Inc. Cambridge Consultants Opens Boston Office
