Partnership Unites Manufacturing, Testing, and Certification ServicesAvnet Applied Computing Solutions (Tempe, AZ, USA) and Underwriters Laboratories
(UL; Northbrook, IL, USA) have teamed up to provide a single point of contact for manufacturing, testing, and certification services. The agreement will reduce the expense and time needed to bring to market medical products integrating single-purpose computers, according to the firms. Technical file preparation for CE marking and 510(k) reviews in the United States, as well as CMDCAS registration services for the Canadian market, are among the services available.
“UL is a recognized and trusted source for product testing and certification,” says Pat Cathey, president of Avnet Applied Computing Solutions. Integrating the firms’ teams, he adds, “will simplify our customers’ design and development cycles and bring their products to market more efficiently.”
UL operates more than 60 locations worldwide and brings an in-depth knowledge of global certification requirements to the partnership. Avnet Applied Computing Solutions provides outsourcing services to single-purpose computing OEMs, software vendors, and related businesses.
