Canon Announces Launch of China Medical Device Manufacturer Magazine and MEDTEC ChinaSusan Wallace

Canon Communications llc (Los Angeles, CA, USA), which publishes European Medical Device
Manufacturer, will introduce two new products serving the fast-growing Chinese medical device industry. China Medical Device Manufacturer (CMDM), a quarterly Chinese-language magazine, will debut in January 2005. President and CEO William F. Cobert also announced that Canon will organize a MEDTEC China exhibition and conference in the fall of 2005. Both initiatives are supported by the China Association for Medical Devices Industry (CAMDI). CAMDI represents nearly 4000 member companies and has strong ties to the country’s State Food & Drug Administration
(SFDA).
“China’s medical manufacturing market is growing at an astonishing rate, and much of its infrastructure is already in place,” says Cobert. “Through these major product line extensions, we will expand our global reach and be in a strong position to assist our core customer segment—high-technology OEM suppliers—in serving the Chinese market.”
According to Frost & Sullivan, China’s total healthcare market grew well over 100% in the five-year period ending in 2001. During the same time frame, the share of the medical device and equipment segment of this market increased from 5% to nearly 17%.
“We enthusiastically support Canon’s new products in China,” says CAMDI chairman Jiang Feng. “Our member companies need a dedicated industry journal and exhibition to meet the sharply growing demands of China’s healthcare marketplace.”
