How Stuff Works

Servo Magnetics Inc.
(Canoga Park, CA, USA) developed an interactive animation that is available on its Web site. The animation illustrates how a four-pole brushless dc motor works. It can be located at www.servomag.com/flash/4-pole/smi-motor007.htm. Janz AG (Paderborn, Germany), a founding member of the Controller Area Network (CANbus) in Automation, has introduced a Web site, www.can-cia.org/can/protocol, that explains CANbus transactions through animation. Real-time data show how each node receives and responds to transmissions. Message frame formats and error detection methods are also explained. CANbus is a serial communications bus for real-time control applications.

Engineering Calculator Available On-Line

An on-line database instantly provides process engineering information to engineers involved in designing and building specialty cut parts.
