E. Conn Co. has acquired Omnivations Inc. and moved its operations to Conn’s Palm Desert, CA, USA, headquarters. E. Conn has many years of experience in catheter tip–forming and hole-punching equipment. The company’s compact state-of-the-art tip former features a standard touch screen control and reportedly has the highest output of any system on the market today. The firm’s RF punching tool produces a hole with a smooth radius on the outside of tubing. All types of related tools also are designed and produced.

Filtrona Richmond Adopts New Name
Following the acquisition of the Fibertec Division of Baumgartner S.A., Filtrona Richmond Inc. announced that its production facilities in the United States and Germany will now do business under the name Filtrona Fibertec. Business restructuring associated with the Baumgartner acquisition will ultimately result in the relocation of bonded fibres manufacturing from the Baumgartner plant in Crissier, Switzerland, to the Filtrona plant in Reinbek, Germany.
Filtrona Fibertec is a manufacturer of bonded fibre components used as wicks and reservoirs in a range of life science and medical diagnostic devices.

Test Kit with Reaction Vial Wins Technology Award

A diagnostic test kit has been awarded the Queens Award to Industry for Technological Design and Achievement. The kit includes a vial manufactured by Bowles & Walker, a plastic-injection moulding company. The Screw-Top MicroVial is manufactured in polypropylene and has a 20–35-µm frit inserted at the bottom. It also features a tear-off butterfly at the luer exit to retrieve the sample. After chemicals or reagents are added to the sample and the reaction is complete, the butterfly is removed and the eluent is recovered by gravity. For viscous samples, the vial may be attached to a vacuum manifold. It can be used in various analytical or biological laboratory functions.

Permabond Merges with Bondmaster Adhesives
Permabond has confirmed that it will integrate its operations with the Bondmaster Adhesives business of its parent company, National Starch and Chemical. This reorganization follows the recent sale of Permabond’s cyanoacrylate and anaerobic adhesives ranges to the Grossi family of Italy.
Permabond retained its structural epoxy, acrylic, and UV-cure adhesive product ranges, which complement the Bondmaster products. Permabond’s products will be rebranded with the Bondmaster name.
