Motors Supplier Invests in New Production Equipment
A supplier of motors to medical device OEMs has invested more than e700,000 in its infrastructure.

A manufacturer of mechanical transmission equipment has invested more than e700,000 in new machine tools and facility upgrades. Rotalink Ltd. (Crewkerne, Somerset, UK) has expanded its production facilities to provide its customers with faster and more-flexible service.

Medical OEMs are among the first to benefit from the company’s enhanced output capacity. “Rotalink’s involvement in the medical device industry is fairly widespread,” says Eddie Palmer, a company spokesman. “The company supplies motors for centrifuges used in blood and other material analysis equipment. Rotalink’s motors and gearboxes are also used in peristaltic syringe pumps.”

One of the new acquisitions is a Citizen M32 CNC lathe. The dual-spindle machine is fitted with a gear-hobbing attachment that can manufacture gears and components up to 32 mm in diameter. The 13-axis fully automated machine features servomotor controlled collect operation, workpiece ejection, and magazine bar-feed. The synchronized control system enables fast front and rear machining.

Rotalink’s in-house capabilities also include injection moulding, soldering, and final assembly.
