Medisize Teams with Bio-Nobile
An agreement for the production of moulded silicone chambers has been completed between
Medisize Development and Manufacturing Technologies (Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, Ireland) and
Bio-Nobile (Turku, Finland). The PickPen Tip chambers are an integral part of Bio-Nobile’s nucleic acid purification and protein purification and fractionation products. The PickPen transfer tools spearhead a new approach to magnetic particle separation. Instead of immobilizing the magnetic particles and then removing the surrounding liquid, PickPens lift the particles directly out of the liquid. This way the particles can be moved rapidly and effortlessly from one stage of the experiment to the next.
Medisize played a key role in the development of the new tips. Its team of engineers recommended methods and improvements from mould construction to validation. Brian McGarvey, business development manager at Medisize, says,
“The relationship will further strengthen our entry into liquid-silicone moulding and add
to our wide range of technologies.”
