W.C. Heraeus Acquires Metalor’s Medical DivisionW.C. Heraeus GmbH (Hanau, Germany) has recently acquired the medical division of Metalor Technologies International S.A., based in Cossonay, Switzerland. The division has been integrated into the newly created Medical Components Division of W.C. Heraeus.
Parallel to this acquisition, W.C. Heraeus has set up a new company in Cossonay, Heraeus Materials S.A. This company will take over all operating assets and the 70 employees of Metalor’s medical division. “We are enthusiastic about the acquisition,” says Jürgen Wachter, who heads the Medical Components Division with Nicolas Guggenheim. “Both divisions are complementary in their product range, which will allow us to offer an extensive package of products and services to the medical industry. Customers will have access to [an array] of technologies and products from one single global supplier.”
Metalor produces components based on wires and fine tubes from special stainless steels, alloys, and precious metals. Its product range includes electrodes and conducting wires for pacemakers, guidewires, endoscope housings, and stent delivery- system parts.
The Medical Components Division of W.C. Heraeus produces and distributes a wide range of primarily implantable metal-based products for the medical industry. Products include electrodes, microprecision parts, and various semifinished devices.
