A US-based provider of device relationship management (DRM) software and services has joined forces with TietoEnator Corp. (Espoo, Finland) to market a remote-access DRM system across Europe. Developed by Axeda Systems Inc. (Mansfield, MA, USA), the system is reportedly the industry’s first practical solution for remote device information management. 

TietoEnator will provide DRM-related consulting, implementation, and system-integration services. One of the top IT services companies in the Nordic region, TietoEnator has developed long-standing relationships with many leading equipment manufacturers. Robert M. Russell Jr., chairman and CEO at Axeda Systems, states that “TietoEnator’s impressive list of customers is built upon its extensive expertise in offering information technology and consulting services to major organizations.” 

The Axeda DRM helps companies increase operating efficiency and profitability. With this software, organizations can monitor, manage, and service intelligent devices deployed at remote customer sites anywhere in the world. Service representatives are alerted if a device is operating outside preset performance standards. This minimizes support calls and service visits. According to Mikael Carlsson, director at M2M Solutions and TietoEnator R&D Services AB, “Device relationship management is fundamentally changing the way [manufacturers] provide service for their products. It allows them to maximize equipment uptime, improve operational efficiency, and ultimately increase customer satisfaction and bottom-line results.” 

The Axeda DRM system also enables automated consumable replenishment, system upgrades, and pay-for-use billing programmes.
