A provider of regulatory compliance management products has expanded its European operations with the opening of a sales office in the UK. Qumas (Cork, Ireland) develops, markets, and supports a suite of integrated compliance management products to life sciences companies. Medical Approval Awarded to MSL Facility in Athlone
The MSL electronics-manufacturing facility in Garrycastle, Athlone, Ireland, has been certified to EN 46002 by the National Standards Authority of Ireland. Tánaiste Mary Harney, Ireland’s minister of enterprise, trade, and employment, presented the company with the certification in February. The authority assessed the company’s quality systems in such areas as document and data control, statistical techniques, and product traceability.

Medical Packaging Plant Expands
Chesapeake Corp. (Richmond, VA, USA), a specialty packaging supplier to healthcare companies, has nearly doubled the size of its plant in Oss, Netherlands. The plant prints, folds, and glues leaflets, primarily printed with patient information for healthcare products.

UTI Boosts Contract Manufacturing Services
To boost its already considerable contract manufacturing capabilities, UTI Corp. (Collegeville, PA, USA) has acquired Venusa Ltd., a firm based in El Paso, TX, USA. Venusa is a medical device manufacturer concentrating on proprietary OEM products and private-label fluid disposables. Its product markets include parenteral and enteral therapy, endoscopy catheters, and minimally invasive therapeutic devices; services include injection moulding and assembly technologies.
