A company that provides EtO, gamma, E-beam, steam, and x-ray sterilization services worldwide has announced the opening of a 10-MeV E-beam sterilization plant in Espergaerde, Denmark. The facility will be operational by this summer, according to Sterigenics, the former medical sterilization business of IBA that has undergone a change in names.
The fully automated facility has been designed to provide device OEMs with the flexibility to process large or small batches by means of single-, double-, or four-sided passes under the beam. A microbiological laboratory will be on-site.
The company will also continue upgrading its global EtO sterilization facilities with CyclEOne technology to reduce processing and sterilization times. According to the firm, this technology enables products to be sterilized in a single day in a single chamber. Sterigenics complies with all relevant standards, including ISO 9001/2000, EN-46001, ISO 11135, ISO 11137, and ISO 10993-7; it was reportedly the first contract sterilizer to incorporate ISO guidelines into all of its processes.
