Infrared thermometer integrates digital camera
How hot was it? Now, production personnel can provide visual proof along with the hard numbers. A noncontact infrared thermometer that displays temperatures ranging between 32° and 900°C also snaps a digital picture of the object and superimposes temperature, location, and the date and time onto the image. The photo can be viewed on a PC and incorporated into e-mails and reports. The PhotoTemp MX6 was introduced to the European market by Raytek GmbH (Berlin) at Electronica in November.
Described as the first inspection tool of its kind, PhotoTemp integrates a highly accurate coaxial laser sighting system. It can be mounted on a tripod for continuous-mode monitoring; high and low alarm points can be set to trigger the unit to take a photograph when the target temperature falls out of the desired range. Up to 100 temperature measurements and photographs can be stored in the device and later downloaded to a PC for temperature trend analysis and reporting using the companion DataTemp MX6 software.
Contact temperature readings can be conducted using a built-in probe jack. A close-focus model for small targets with a 50:1 resolution and a low-temperature version with a range starting at 50°C also are available.
