Miniature connectors increase options
Microconnectors introduced at Electronica offer a range of mixed layout choices, including high- and low-frequency, high-intensity, and speed contacts, in a three-row configuration. The 2-mm-pitch connectors were developed for the military, avionics, and aeronautics markets, says Sébastien Charbonnel, deputy marketing manager at Nicomatic S.A. (Bons-en-Chablais, France), "but we are also aware of applications in the medical device and other end-user markets."
The CMM 320 model combines up to 16 special coaxial high-frequency or high-power contacts and 32 signal contacts in a single housing, while the CMM 340 offers users the choice of up to 64 special contacts or 50 special contacts and 32 signal contacts. Based on the company's proven CMM-series connectors, the performance of the new products matches that of the firm's CMM 220 device. "These new connectors feature high performance in a reduced space, offering engineers and R&D personnel unprecedented design options," says Charbonnel.
