New Extrusion Process for Coating Guidewires Developed
A new affiliate of Microspec Corp., EJS Extrusion LLC (Jaffrey, NH, USA) has announced the introduction of an extrusion process for coating discrete lengths of tapered guidewires. The proprietary method can produce a constant outside diameter of polymer over a guidewire's proximal shaft to the end of its tapered distal tip, enabling the shaping of the distal end and eliminating the need for a separate tip. A range of medical-grade radiopaque elastomers can be specified to satisfy different application requirements. The company has also announced that it is seeking partners for licensing opportunities.
