PRODUCT UPDATE

SIG Pack Systems AG

A modular system that integrates standard mechanical and electrical components is designed to handle complete packaging operations. Because it features a common control platform and synchronized interfaces, the SIG Systegra from SIG Pack Systems AG (Beringen, Switzerland) "offers simple control of the entire packaging process," says Bernard Fenner, manager of marketing and communications. "This enables the user to tailor the system to current production needs and to lower operating costs," he adds.

The company offers a range of handling equipment, from single units to complex systems, tailored to individual product and process requirements. Accumulating, feeding, metering, grouping, buffering, and loading operations are supported by the company's equipment.

Standardized monitoring and supervision of an entire system enables faults to be identified early on. Not only does this reduce downtime, says Fenner, "but it makes it possible to perform standard diagnostic procedures and statistical evaluations to improve productivity."

The firm's ability to build specific solutions based on a broad product platform has served it well as a supplier to the healthcare market, says Fenner. "We have already worked on projects involving inhalers and syringes," he explains, adding that the company hopes to build on that experience. As part of that drive, it has recruited regional sales engineers with a background in the healthcare sector.
