Mold Masters Europa Expands German Facility
Demand for hot-runner technology continues to heat up for Mold Masters Europa GmbH, which has announced an expansion of its German facility in Baden-Baden. Production capacity has been increased by 33%, according to the manufacturer of hot-runner systems, temperature controllers, filter nozzles, and gating options.
The facility houses the company's new European R&D laboratory, which includes injection moulding machines and related equipment. "With this expansion, we are now better prepared to meet the challenges of the European market," says technical director Hans Hagelstein.

Joint Venture Formed to Develop Specialty Needles
In what might be called a sharp move, Manan Medical Products Inc. (Evanston, IL, USA), and American Medical Instruments Inc. (Dartmouth, MA, USA) have come together under the Manan name, making the joint operation one of the largest specialty needle manufacturing concerns in the world. The merger will provide customers of both companies with a broader range of contract manufacturing services, enhanced engineering and product design assistance, and a larger selection of standard OEM needle products.

MEMS, En Avant
A contract manufacturer of microelectro-mechanical systems (MEMS) for high-end applications, Tronic's Microsystems S.A. (Grenoble, France) has signed a three-year commitment to engage in R&D activities with CEA Leti, the electronic and information technologies laboratory of the French Atomic Energy Commission, also in Grenoble. The organizations have agreed to jointly harness their R&D efforts to the development of silicon-on-insulator-based MEMS.
