Free Software Calculates Cost Benefits of Energy-Efficient Motors
![]() |

Software
from Baldor UK Ltd. allows users to compare the energy costs of typical
efficiency motors with high-efficiency products.
|
Software that analyzes the economic benefits of replacing nominal-efficiency motors with energy-efficient products is available free of charge. BE$T software from Baldor UK Ltd. (Bristol, UK) compares the annual energy cost of a typical efficiency motor with an equivalent motor designed to achieve high operating efficiencies. The software then recommends a replacement motor for the application in question, and calculates the length of the payback period. This can be surprisingly short, according to the company; as little as a year, in some cases.
If the motors under evaluation are candidates for adjustable-speed
drives, the software will automatically calculate the additional energy savings.
Data entry can be done by means of a keyboard; the data can also be imported
from another software application or from a PDA. The software has a built-in
report writer.
