Consobiomed is a consortium of small companies in the Mirandola area that supply medical device OEMs. The consortium was created in 1990 to promote the implementation of relevant quality standards and European regulations by local small and medium-sized companies. Among the organization's 27 member firms are Encaplast, Probio, RI.MOS., and the Medica group.

"Having achieved that objective, the organization turned its efforts to marketing," explains Luciano Fecondini, the consortium's president and director of Tecnoideal, which is part of the Medica group. In 1999, Consobiomed was transformed into an association for foreign trade that helped to strengthen its members' exchanges with foreign countries.

Nowadays, the consortium is focussed on promoting the commercial activities of its members through the organization of exhibitions, partnerships, and meetings abroad and in Italy. It is also engaged in marketing and research via mailing and publicity campaigns; the management of relations with other industry associations; consulting on quality systems, European directives, and foreign regulatory systems; training courses; and the implementation of cleanroom controls.
