PRODUCT UPDATE

Consolidated Polymer Technologies Inc.

Offering an alternative to silicone and PVC products, C-Flex tubing from Consolidated Polymer Technologies Inc. (Luxembourg) eliminates plasticizer-leaching concerns. "Our tubing is made from a styrene-ethylene-butylene modified-block copolymer, so it's chemically inert and works as a substitute for both silicone and PVC," says vice president of marketing and sales Jerry Stadt. Complying with US FDA Class VI requirements, the material is not pyrogenic, cytotoxic, or haemolytic. Other product benefits include wide sterilization capabilities and resistance to concentrated acids and alkalies.

Supplied in a range of sizes, C-Flex tubing has a smooth inner bore that decreases platelet adhesion and protein binding. Significantly less permeable than silicone products, the tubing is both heat sealable and bondable. "This feature allows a section of the tubing to be sealed, removed for testing, and then reconnected without compromising product integrity," says Stadt. Available in clear and opaque formulations, the tubing is lot traceable and can be safely incinerated.

Product applications include peristaltic pumps, pharmaceuticals-manufacturing equipment, fluid- and drug-delivery devices, dialysis machines, cardiac bypass equipment, and other components.
