Maurice Wagner, 54, has been appointed as the new director-general of EUCOMED, effective 1 May. Wagner succeeds Michael Baker, who will continue in a part-time capacity until the end of May.
The new director-general has held the position of executive director of three international associations operating within the fragrance and flavour industry, namely IFRA (International Fragrance Association), IOFI (International Organization of the Flavour Industry), and EFFA (European Association of the Flavour and Fragrance Industry). These connections with the cosmetics industry have brought him into contact with the Directorate-General for Enterprise of the European Commission, as well as with the European Parliament.

Cavro Scientific Changes Name to Tecan Systems
Cavro Scientific Instruments Inc., a supplier of liquid-handling modules and laboratory automation systems, announced that effective 15 March, the company has changed its name to Tecan Systems. The new name reflects the expansion of the laboratory automation systems product line to include more turnkey engineering and manufacturing services.

Fort Wayne Metals to Build Irish Facility
Fort Wayne Metals has announced plans to build a 25,000-sq-ft manufacturing facility in Castelbar, Co. Mayo, Ireland. The Ireland facility is the company's fourth manufacturing facility and third European operation, including a sales office in Oirschot, Netherlands, and a distribution centre in Venlo, also in the Netherlands.
Fort Wayne Metals produces wire for use in catheters, guidewires, implantable leads, orthopaedic devices, orthodontic appliances, needles, and sutures. The new facility was built in response to specific demand in the European market. "The ability to draw closer to our European customers through the Ireland expansion was a logical step," says Scott Glaze, chief executive officer of Fort Wayne Metals.

Runfold Medical Expands Cleanroom Capabilities

new ISO Class 6 cleanrooms totalling more than 300 m2 have been constructed
and now form part of a fully integrated, state-of-the-art medical manufacturing
facility. With the additional facilities, Runfold is able to offer increased
