MOULDING EQUIPMENT
Equipment maker touts clean machine
To emphasize its commitment to the production of a "clean" moulding machine for the medical sector, BM Biraghi S.p.A. (Monza, MI, Italy) exhibited a white Sintesi 200 moulder at K 2001. "We have painted the machine white to underline its clean operation, particularly in the mould area," says Barbara Biraghi, who is in charge of public relations for the company.
The Sintesi 200 was shown moulding cylinders for 5-cm3 syringes using a 48-cavity mould from Ingestampi (Pessano con Bornago, MI, Italy). For this operation, the machine achieves a cycle time of 10 seconds. "The moving platen slides on oil-free bearings," notes Biraghi, "and we have reduced the amount of lubrication used on the platen columns."
Sintesi machines incorporate the latest generation of variable displacement pumps to reduce operation costs and closed-loop controls. A rapid barrel-change feature combined with quick-ejector couplings enhance productivity. The control system uses fibre optics to prevent electromagnetic-related issues. The company's modular approach to machine buildingusing interchangeable standard components in custom machinesenables it to design technologically advanced moulders for rapid delivery at competitive prices.
