In BriefUTI Acquires Micro-Guide
UTI (Collegeville, PA, USA), a manufacturer of precision tubular parts, has acquired Micro-Guide Inc. (Tehachapi, CA, USA), a specialty provider of precision-ground, microminiature wire products. The new division is expected to complement the capabilities of another UTI company, Star Guide (Galway, Ireland), which provides straightening, grinding, and forming of stainless steel and other alloys, medical device assembly, coiling, laser welding, and coating.

EUCOMED Issues Paper on Human Tissue Engineering
In the wake of the groundbreaking report that scientists have succeeded in cloning the first human embryo, EUCOMED (Brussels) has urged the European Commission to take speedy action in developing a regulatory framework for the development, registration, and marketing of human tissue products in the EU.
