WEB WATCH
E-NewsConductor-Size Conversion Calculator Launched
Elocab (Kitchener, ON, Canada) has relaunched its Web site at www.elocab.ca by adding new features to its on-line storefront. Among them is a conversion calculator that translates conductor sizes from AWG to metric (and vice versa), as well as a refined questionnaire offering potential customers direct access to the company's expertise in designing and building custom cables. The questionnaire allows customers to specify their needs by means of a checklist that includes factors such as tension resistance, high-flex performance, chemical and thermal jacket durability, and desired or required cable diameter. At the click of the mouse, the specifications transfer directly to product engineers, who develop an average of eight new cable designs daily.
Touch Monitors Available On-Line
Elo
Touch Systems (Kessel-Lo, Belgium), which designs and manufactures touch monitors,
recently expanded its Web site with an improved interface, simplified navigation
tools, and integration of e-commerce services. The site is located at www.elotouchexpress.com
and provides registered users with information on products and existing accounts.
New users can apply for credit terms and reseller discounts by clicking through
on-line forms. Interactive account services include balance, credit limit, and
outstanding invoice information; order status, including shipment tracking;
part number and product descriptions; and on-line forms to request a touch monitor
demo program, price quote, or return authorization number. Users can select
from a range of CRT and LCD touch monitors and pay for them in a familiar e-commerce
fashion. By searching through product data, part numbers, and product drawings,
users can choose from a variety of form factors and technologies.
Bearing Specifier Introduced
A
68-page handbook provides engineering application data about many aspects of
miniature and instrument bearings. Available at www.dynaroll.com, the handbook
is divided into 21 sections that include materials, tolerances, lubrication,
torque, noise, and mechanical testing. The reference guide, supplied by Dynaroll
(San Fernando, CA, USA), provides information about critical issues of the selection
process, and addresses fitting, mounting, and assembly concerns. The on-line
Engineering Handbook also features a tool that enables users to select
bearings by inputting a few specifications. The specifier provides a short list
of bearings matching the initial criteria. When the list has been pared down
and the desired bearing has been identified, a spec sheet can be printed out.
Users can also find information on the company's miniature and instrument bearings
and assemblies, testing services, and contract manufacturing capabilities.
R&D Technology Centre on the Web
A new section of the Adhesives Research Inc. (Great Dunmow, Essex, UK) Web site showcases the company's approach to customizing pressure-sensitive adhesives to meet challenging bonding applications. The technology centre at www.adhesivesresearch.com explains how the company is able to leverage a broad, external network of suppliers for polymers, adhesives, films, and release materials when developing PSA products. The site also includes information about the company's industrial, medical, pharmaceutical, and splicing business units as well as a vendor/purchasing department section and the latest company news.

range of components for the OEM wound-care market can be found at www.inspirecomponents.com,
a Web site from Rexam Engineered Films (Wrexham, Clwyd, UK). Quick links provide
technical information on breathable products, including hydrogel adhesives,
acrylate adhesives, and polyurethane films and foams. Other sections on the
site include a list of forthcoming trade shows where the products will be exhibited,
an overview of the key features and benefits of the medical components, a news
section with press releases covering new product launches, and contact links
to request further information.
Bag Sealing Equipment Site Expanded
Emplex
Systems Inc. (Scarborough, ON, Canada) has its Web site at www.emplex.com, which
offers enhanced in-depth product descriptions, downloadable brochures, video
clips, and an on-line quoting system. Equipment searches can be accomplished
by machine type, industry or application, or model number. For users who are
unsure which bag sealer would be best suited to their needs, a short questionnaire
can match application requirements with the applicable model. A password-protected
resource section provides customers with detailed information on their existing
machinery. They can access technical support, including up-to-date operator
manuals and schematics, and find answers to frequently asked questions. To expedite
the ordering process, customers can order spare parts on-line 24 hours a day.
