Site Provides Testing Service Information

An updated Web site offers users on-line access to testing and certificate information. Located at www.etlsemko.com, the site includes a resource library with instant access to standards updates, white papers, case studies, articles, press releases, and other information. In addition to customized information, users can submit queries to ETL Semko (Kista, Sweden), which will be answered within 24 hours.

Servo Product Site Integrates Selection Tool

A new Web application from Kollmorgen Motion Technologies Group (Tadley, Hants, UK) allows users to conduct a preliminary search of servo products to determine the viability of a product solution. The product selector, located at www.kollmorgen.com, simplifies and quickens the initial qualification of servo products to reduce time spent in determining product applicability. The tool also provides immediate access to the most up-to-date database of current products. Used in conjunction with Motioneering, the company's dynamic analysis sizing software, the product selector enables the user to search a large database of motor and drive products by one or more performance and feature parameters. Motioneering can be used after the product selector search has been concluded to perform a more detailed analysis based on machinery and motion requirements.

Sealing Solution Web Site Launched

A supplier of sealing solutions has introduced a Web site providing information on its computerized manufacturing technology. The technology enables Expresseal (Lancaster, NY, USA) to produce seals including U-cups, wipers, piston rings, bushings, bearings, packings, O-rings, prototypes, and custom seals and shapes. The site, www.expresseal.com, gives details on a variety of seal materials such as polyurethane, Teflon, Viton, Buna N, and ethylene propylene. Users can learn about the availability of seals in a variety of standard profiles according to customer specifications from 0.25 in. ID up to 10 in. OD. Colour illustrations of available profiles are provided, including rod, piston, guide, back-up, shaft wiper, and O-ring seals; all are accessible from a drop-down menu on the home page. The company's design engineering, manufacturing, and prototyping capabilities are also covered.

Educational Welding Web Site Updated

Dedicated to welding processes and techniques, a Web site offers information on optimizing welding in specific applications. Found at www.pro-fusiononline.com, the site has been recently renovated by Pro-Fusion Technologies Inc. (Newbury Park, CA, USA) to include streaming videos of parts being welded, on-line software to compute welding parameters, and tips on topics that range from tungsten preparation to gas purity. Users can register at the site to receive welding technology updates.

Polymer Additive Information Available On-line

Registered users can access 7000 technical data sheets, case studies, and application manuals on polymer additives by accessing www.specialchem.com, the Web site of SpecialChem (Paris). A product database is searchable by CAS number, supplier name, and additive family. Available at the Suppliers Storefront are technical assistance, supplier quotes and information, and expertise from polymer additives and master-batch manufacturers. A Tech Direct function provides free on-line technical support including troubleshooting, search for equivalent materials, and processing advice. Users can request products from specific suppliers or send a general request to appropriate suppliers by describing desired properties and applications. Users can also access relevant articles from Plastics Additives & Compounding magazine.

Software Enables On-Line Graph Viewing

Scientific graphing software enables users to publish graphs and charts as high-resolution interactive Web objects. SigmaPlot 2001 from SPSS Science Software GmbH (Erkrath, Germany) allows graphs to be posted on a Web site or Intranet page as objects instead of regular gif or jpeg files. Anyone can zoom, pan, or print the image at full resolution directly from a Web browser window. Optional security settings restrict data access to authorized users. The WebViewer, a free Internet Explorer plug-in, is automatically downloaded when the browser encounters a SigmaPlot 2001 graph. A live demonstration of the software is available at www.spssscience.com/viewer. Additional features include area plots that allow researchers to shade areas below or between curves, a graph style gallery that can save templates of favorite graphs for reuse, an equation solver for functions containing a single independent variable and a number of parameters, and a true-colour EPS exporter.
