EUCOMED’s Global Conference Postponed

The Ninth Global Medical Devices Conference on improving patient access to new medical technology, scheduled for 17 and 18 October in Barcelona, Spain, has been postponed until late May or early June 2002. Officials postponed the conference in response to the terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington D.C. on 11 September. “The decision to postpone this major event was not an easy one to take, and will certainly not be easy to implement. We nevertheless feel that this is the right thing to do. The Global Conference needs to have global support and global participation,” says Michael C. Baker, director general of EUCOMED (Brussels).

The Global Harmonization Task Force Conference, which was scheduled for 11–16 October at the same venue, has also been postponed.
