Lidding material
A
medical packaginggrade Tyvek lidding material seals well to PETG trays
and maintains its strength and seal through a wide variety of sterilization
methods. The nontoxic, hot-melt heat-sealable adhesive coating is applied in
a uniform dot pattern to maintain the breathability of the Tyvek. The material
provides quality hot tack and peelable seals with uniform adhesive transfer
on most rigid plastics. Oliver Products International, Venray, Netherlands.
Laminate
A
laminate offers good peel performance, plus a wide operating window and production
efficiency on the packaging machine. The film incorporates the company's Corepeel
technology. The company supplies sterilizable medical packaging and offers a
complete line of pharmaceutical blister films, barrier films for tubes, and
sterilization and waste management supplies. Rexam Medical Packaging Ltd.,
Bristol, UK.
Fill-and-seal systems
A
miniature, robotic, PLC-controlled system has four robotic workstations that
easily open and process a variety of barrier packaging materials. Suited for
medical applications, the system is cleanroom compatible and can process flat
pouches, recloseable zipper pouches, and gusseted bags. About Packaging Robotics
Inc., Boulder, CO, USA.
Resealable pouches
Custom-made
foil barrier pouches have a low water-vapour transmission rate and are up to
80 times more effective than polyethylene at preventing moisture ingress. The
pouches are available in different material combinations and have a recloseable
zipper. They can also be printed on both sides. Protective Packaging,
Sale, Cheshire, UK.
Wrapping machines
Two
models of forming and wrapping machines are flexible by design and can accommodate
different plaster sizes. The EURO B10 is dedicated to small-sized production,
while the EURO B21 is suited for bigger production sizes and surgery plasters.
Eurosicma S.p.A., Segrate (MI), Italy.
Custom-built machinery
Designed
and manufactured to customer specifications, medical packaging machinery can
include flexographic, ink-jet, or thermal-transfer printers; sensors for checking
the product in the tray; and automatic feeders. The machines are offered with
a centralized compressed air exhaust or a motorized waste-film winder for use
in a cleanroom environment. AL.MA. S.r.l., Cadorago (CO), Italy.
Plastic closures
A
variety of standard and custom-designed closures are supplied, including tamper-evident,
child-resistant, dispensing, flip-top, toggle-spout screw, and snap-on caps.
Dosing devices such as dropper nozzles, dosing spoons, and dosing cups are provided
with CE marking. Kunststoffwerk Kremsmünster, Kremsmünster,
Austria.
Pouches
Pouches
on a roll enable device manufacturers to print customized packages on an in-house
printer in minutes. The pouches are available in three grades of Tyvek and are
heat-sealed to a select film. They offer a clean peel, microbial barrier properties,
high tear strength, puncture resistance, and excellent clarity for product visibility.
