Griffith Micro Science
Goes Full Steam Ahead in the Netherlands

Griffith Micro Science (Herentals, Belgium), a contract EtO sterilizer with facilities throughout Europe and North America, recently opened its second steam sterilization system at its facility in Zoetermeer, the Netherlands. The demand for an additional contract steam sterilization plant, according to European marketing director Ron Peacock, is being driven by regulatory requirements to reduce residuals in products sterilized by EtO. "It's also motivated by manufacturers who are resisting the use of more expensive gamma-stable materials at a time when cost containment is a priority for health care," he adds.

Griffith opted for a ventilated system to meet the local market requirement for a steam sterilizer that could be used with moisture-sensitive products, particularly PVC tubing and various types of implants. The machine's operational flexibility, adds Peacock, will enable Griffith to provide a range of sterilization cycles for pressure-sensitive products and prefilled ampoules as well as to increase capacity for the treatment of porous textiles, glass, and metal.
