Plastic Components Design & Manufacturing
Modified Polymer Components specializes in the design, rapid prototyping and manufacture of reliable, highly precise polymer plastic components for Medical Device OEMs, as well as companies in the electronics, aerospace, biotech and semiconductor industries.
We perform modifications of any complexity to custom and off-the-shelf polymer medical device components, including flaring, flanging, joining, tipping, coating, cutting, drilling, skiving and gluing.
In 2006 MPC was once again honored as a supplier to products earning the Medical Device Excellence Award, the premier awards program for the medical technology community.
Since its founding in 1989, MPC has grown into an ISO 9001/13485 registered contract manufacturer with over 100 employees that have served more than 1,500 customers.
Our capabilities include manufacturing of wire reinforced tubing, product improvement and custom modifications to existing components.
Extensive Production, R&D Capabilities
MPC operates a 23,000-square-foot facility in Sunnyvale, California, that houses two R&D environments, multiple white rooms, a state-of-the-art machine shop and large industrial manufacturing spaces. MPC can supply completely equipped product-development workspaces for OEMs to collaborate with our engineers in an actual manufacturing environment.
More than 8,000-square-feet is dedicated to controlled environment assembly operations, where silicone molding and coating services for medical devices are conducted, with a portable clean room for projects requiring increased particle control. Fume hoods, laminar flow hoods and several production-ready ovens are in the controlled environment and industrial manufacturing areas. One 2,500-square-foot controlled environment is separated for development projects and R&D.
In-House Tooling & Polymer Processing
Through a proprietary RF molding process, MPC can tip and flare any thermoplastic including LDPE, HDPE, PVC, Nylon, Pebax, Pellethane, Polycarbonate, composites, FEP, PFA, PTFE, PEEK and ULTEM. Plastics machining processes, which include hole-drilling, skiving, feature creation and resizing are completed in the industrial manufacturing area.
Our production staff handles contract assembly work, including soldering, assembly and testing. There are more than 100 programmable logic controlled (PLC) work stations staffed with highly trained manufacturing personnel.
Precision tube-cutting services are provided with manual and automated cutting equipment. Electrical assemblies are produced that utilize soldering stations, fume hoods, potting equipment and testing operations. Multiple machines are in place for wire reinforced products that can be spiral wound and braided.
The majority of MPC tooling is made in-house to exact specifications, keeping outsourcing costs to a minimum. We have developed close relationships with EDM and CNC specialists to fulfill any requirements that can't be met in-house.
Exceeding Customer Expectations
Through ongoing efforts in research and continuing education, our staff maintains the highest level of skills, knowledge and professionalism found anywhere in the industry.
MPC systems and facilities have been developed through the ingenuity of an experienced staff of engineers, machinists and drafts-people who work alongside customers to facilitate every aspect of the development and manufacturing cycles. We continually seek input from customers to more fully exceed their expectations.
MPC's product development processes are fully documented from initial prototypes and pilot production to full-scale manufacturing. Our staff conducts design reviews regularly to analyze every aspect of every project. MPC procedures support IQ, OQ and PQ documentation for any customer that requires support.
Growing with Market Demand
Modified Polymer Components, Inc. was started on a kitchen table in August 1989 to provide secondary polymer substrate operations for the medical device community. The staff at that time included Mike, Peggy and Noel Taylor. Through years of expansions and upgraded facilities, the Taylor family has continued to own and operate MPC.
In late 2004, MPC's growth allowed the company to move into its present stand-alone, custom-designed facility. MPC remains a closely knit "Management By Walking Around" company.
Every individual that is part of the MPC team understands the importance of the group and the product that he or she manufactures. All components and developments are American made.
High Standards, Outstanding Results
MPC expands the boundaries of what's possible in medical device engineering, always maintaining high standards of excellence for manufacturing controls. We pride ourselves on achieving precise conformance to the most complex specifications and tolerances in component design.
Medical device OEMs are invited to call MPC for consultation on product development and improvement, prototyping and manufacturing of polymer components.
